Anger Management
After his wild airplane incident, Sandler is forced to get helpe from the legendary Doctor Buddy Rydell (Jack Nicholson), but when an additional incident lands him in even more trouble, Doctor Buddy has no choice but to move in with him to get him straightened out. Sandler's repressed, insecure, kind-hearted pushover with a pent-up rage is pretty close to the character he played in last year's "Punch-Drunk Love," but sadly, that's where the similarities end. This film directed by Peter Segal is much more conventional. Marisa Tomei as Sandler's understanding girlfriend is always a joy to watch, and there are a bunch of cameos, some of which are mildly amusing while others are just embarrassing by John C. Reilly, Kevin Nealon, Heather Graham, and Woody Harrelson. Still, the two stars seem to be having a great time bouncing off each other, and while some of their comedic moments fall flat, the jokes that do work do manage to keep the film entertaining. Nevertheless, it's still far from being the outrageous comedy that it might have been. Not only does it drag in spots, but it ends up with a climactic contrivance that seems to comes way out of left field.
