Catch Me If You Can
This is the true story of Frank Abagnale (DiCaprio) who grew up in a loving home seeking the approval of his charismatically flawed dad (Walken). At age 16, unable to face the disintegration of his parent's marriage, the teenager escapes by assuming the identities of people he imagines his father would approve of. Unbelievably he's able to con everyone as he cashes forged checks and lives it up all over the world impersonating first an airline pilot, then a doctor, even a lawyer, and all before he's 19 years old. But pretty quickly he finds he's being pursued by the FBI, especially agent Carl Hanratty (Hanks), who develops a bond with the teenager that he's relentlessly tracking. Di Caprio, although he's 27, manages to look and act exactly the way a cocky teenager would, and Hanks is perfectly cast as his nemisis. Spielberg perfectly captures the mood and era of the 60's, and the film is loaded with a number of dazzling sequences that are truly inspired and laugh out loud funny. Two hours and twenty minutes has never flown more quickly.
