An Unfinished Life
Down on her luck, Jean (Jennifer Lopez) takes her daughter and leaves her abusive boyfriend (Damian Lewis), but when their car breaks down on an isolated road, they have little money so Jean decides she has no choice but to seek refuge at the Wyoming ranch of her father in-law Einar (Robert Redford), although she has been estranged from him for years. He blames her for the death of his son and every other bad thing that has happened to him since. Nevertheless, since she has no other options, she moves in with her bitter father-in-law. She finds a job in town as a waitress and meets and falls for the local sheriff (Josh Lucas). Naturally, the turbulent relationship between Jean and Einar gets worse before ultimately it gets better, and with the help of Jean's young daughter and the bedridden, victim of a bear-mauling (Morgan Freeman) who lives in Einar's guest house in constant physical pain. Things finally improve between the two. Einar finally absolves Jean of blame for the "accident" that killed his son, thereby ending his son's unfinished life. Oh, and there's a predictable ending too, complete with forgiveness and emotional recovery.
