Jimmy's Buzz Guide Review:
Like a classic novel of an earlier time, it's full of big ideas, and like a great soap opera, it's also full of wild plot twists, and vibrant characters. It is, in short, one of the best of films.

The Best of Youth
Directed by Marco Tullio Giordana, The Best of Youth (La Meglio Gioventu) runs over six and a half hours, and chronicles the youth, emotional development, and milestone events in the lives of two Italian brothers - Nicola (Luigi Lo Cascio and Matteo Carti (Alessio Boni) between 1966 and the early 2000s. Despite being polar opposites -- Nicola is a free spirited, romantic psychiatrist; Matteo is an angst-ridden idealist and member of the Italian police force -- the brothers stay connected throughout their lives, raising families, including their long periods of separation from each other. It's a magnificent epic.
