The film is set 20,000 years ago when much of our planet was covered in ice. You'll recognize the voices of Ray Romano (Everybody Loves Raymond) as Manfred a wooly mammoth with a heart of gold, John Leguizamo (Moulin Rouge) type-cast as Sid a motormouthed sloth, Dennis Leary and Goran Visnjic as scheming sabre-toothed tigers. They're all travelling south to get away from the approaching freeze when Manfred comes upon the child who's been separated from his family and convinces his pals to join together to get the child home. Of course that's not as easy as it would seem and along the way there are some frosty challenges which must be overcome. There are some clever jokes about evolution and some funny characters and slapstick humor, but it's got a few dull spots and the expressionless faces of the animals makes you wish for the superior sophistication of last year's "Shrek" and "Monsters, Inc"
