Dreamcatcher
This is the third time William Goldman (Misery, Hearts in Atlantis) has adapted a screenplay based on the work of Stephen King, and this time he's failed miserably, although the book was rather long and too loaded with characters. The story follows four lifelong friends who take a hunting trip in Maine, only to get socked in due to a severe snowstorm. That's just the beginning of a series of strange events, which not only tests their friendship, but also their lives. Things get worse when they let a stranger into their cabin who turns out to have severe flatulence. It's not just what he ate, but what's growing inside him as a result. Soon the quartet find themselves in the middle of a battle between alien creatures, a mad army colonel who is willing to kill everyone in the area to make sure the aliens don't win. Morgan Freeman, Damian Lewis, Jason Lee, Thomas Jane and Tom Sizemore star and the film was directed by Lawrence Kasdan (who's done much better work with The Big Chill, Body Heat and Silverado).
