Hanna Hanna Heller (Academy Award nominee Saoirse Ronan "Atonement") is a bright, inquisitive, sixteen-year-old with the strength, the stamina, and the  smarts of a soldier; from being raised by her father (Eric Bana "Munich"), an ex-CIA agent, living in the wilds of Northern Finland. She's been raised unlike any other teenager to hunt, put through extreme self-defense workouts, and home-schooled with only an encyclopedia and a book of fairy tales to educate her. Hanna's upbringing and training have been geared to one purpose only - to make her the perfect assassin. But there is unfinished business for Hanna's family, and it is with a combination of pride and apprehension that Erik realizes that Hanna is ready to begin her mission.

So Erik unearths a metal box. Inside is a switch. If Hanna flicks a switch, then Marissa Weigler (Cate Blanchett), a ruthless, calculating CIA operative with an unusual connection as yet unknown to Hanna, will know where to find her. Her assignment will take her from just below the Arctic Circle to Morocco and finally to an an abandoned amusement park in Berlin, Germany.

Deadly when provoked or sensing she's in danger, Hanna does what she needs to in order to survive, yet she is also is overwhelmed by other feelings that tell her when what she's doing is not right. She genuinely doesn't want to hurt anybody, especially showing her humanity when she's taken in by a family
(Jason Flemyng and Olivia Williams) with a son (Aldo Maland) and a gabby teen daughter Sophie (Jessica Barden). But before long, some brutal killers are after her led by Isaacs (Tom Hollander), their nasty leader, and she must face them without endangering her new friends. As Hanna nears her ultimate target, she faces startling revelations about her existence and unexpected questions about her humanity.

Tautly directed by Joe Wright  ("Atonement") weaves elements of dark fairy tales into this exciting adventure thriller filmed on locations throughout Europe and North Africa. With its
extraordinary score by the techno group The Chemical Brothers, sumptuous art direction, and set design, Hanna is thrilling from it's opening scene to its exciting climax.
